Simpsons Restaurant Refurbishment, Edgbaston

We are delighted to announce one of our latest projects!

New look for Birmingham's Michelin-starred Simpsons

Written by: Janet Harmer,

Michelin-starred Simpsons restaurant run by chef-proprietor Andreas Antona is to undergo an extensive refurbishment to extend the main dining area and update the decor of its Grade-II-listed building in Edgbaston.

Building work will begin this month, with completion planned for early August.

The refurbishment coincides with the Edgbaston restaurant having held a Michelin star for the past 11 years and has been organised by the building’s owners, Calthorpe Estates.

Simpsons will remain open as normal during the improvements, with the main dining area moving into what is currently the lounge and private dining room.

Antona said: “The refurbishment has been on the cards for a couple of years now, and during that time we have been working through plans to enhance the building in a manner that is sensitive to the buildings Grade-II-listed status, whilst improving efficiency of service for the restaurant. It is a huge and exciting undertaking that will signal the beginning of a new era for Simpsons and underline our ambition to remain at the forefront of Birmingham’s dining scene.

“We are planning to remain open during all but the most intensive periods of build work, however the refurbishment will inevitably mean some disruption for our diners. We will do our utmost to maintain our excellent service levels during the renovations and are confident that the new look Simpsons will be well received by our customers.”

The project will be delivered in partnership with Austin Newport as the main contractor, Lapworth Architects, SVM Associates and Thomasons Engineers. Leisure Concepts will provide the internal decor and final design touches.
